Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an evidence-based listening therapy designed to reduce sound sensitivities and improve auditory processing, behavioral state regulation, and social engagement behaviors through filtered music. As a practical application of Polyvagal Theory, the SSP acts as a non-invasive, acoustic vagal nerve stimulator, helping to re-tune the nervous system to better support connection, collaboration and resilience. The SSP involves listening to specially filtered music through headphones alongside a provider, in-person or remotely. Suitable for children and adults, the SSP has demonstrated benefits for individuals with, anxiety, sensory processing differences and more. With education and coaching parents can implement this music therapy with their child. Your individualized listening plan will include co-regulation activities to support your child's nervous system.
Initial assessments are required to determine if virtual delivery of SSP is a good fit for you or your child. Adults who are highly sensitive or those with past trauma are urged to have mental health support in place before starting the Safe and Sound Protocol. It is recommended but not required that a parent complete the SSP with their child.
All you need is the app and over the ear headphones to get started
The SSP can be done from wherever you are virtually!
Also available in person!
